Well, after driving an 18-year-old ’89 Honda Accord for over 16 years, I broke down last month and bought a 2008 Toyota Matrix XR.
It’s not the perfect car I’ve been dreaming of, but it was the closest fit to some pretty tough criteria:
- List price under $20,000
- Largest cargo capacity for a small car
- Over 30 mpg highway
- Silver with grey interior
- Not embarassingly ugly
Here it is with the seats down.
By the way, if you think Christmas is coming earlier every year, please be aware that the 2009 Toyotas are already here. They came out the end of January.
Last Thursday, we had our once a year every few years snowfall that actually amounted to enough to play in. I went out late in the evening and took this picture of our pool in the snow – it’s a little grainy looking because it’s a long exposure with available light. Click for a bigger version. (It was much prettier in real life.)
If you’re an APG&ONS fan, thanks for sticking by me. I haven’t blogged for a little over three months, because we moved to a new house, with a cool inground pool and this really neat stained glass window. The new place also has a tree swing for Emily — and if you look really closely, you might notice that I have a special splint on my left foot — I broke it about 4 days before the big move.
Here’s a picture of Emily with a lizard.
If I were blogging, I’d say something like click on that image of the two hair ads — it looks to me like if you have curly hair, you need to straighten it; if you have straight hair, you need to curl it; and whatever color your hair happens to be, it shouldn’t be, so do something that appears to be really painful, judging from the picture on the box.
Now why didn’t I think of this? Set your wallpaper to a photo of the space behind it and you get a Transparent Screen. I love it when people are clever.
